i never said you cant get this info using something else and you probably mean on Google toolbar, which has many interesting features beside PR checking... but... one reason for inventing this tool is just Google toolbar, which only runs on IE for Windows... there are certanly many people who don't use IE, or Windows at all... need more?

Great tool but my site PR came 4
I am not so experienced in SEO ( so some basic question ) and as per my knowledge ranking depends on keywords, so without this how a rank can be decided? PR is what parameter ? Any article or tip will help me to understand. Sorry for asking a dumb questions to all experts here .

4 isnt bad pr at all... there are calculations about getting fractional pr for your pages but i doubt you will need that... it's all about linking and there isnt some magic formula like "get 1000 links pointing to your site and you will have pr7" - no, it all depends of quality of pages where your link reside, link title, keyword density and specific page rank on that certain keyword on the site where your link is etc.

my point is to forget about all those calculations and just get as many links as you can pointing directly to your site... reciprocal, sponsored, what ever you prefer, just direct, not some redirect.php?q=your url because google is aware of them, but they arent included in pr calculations, because they are not permanent redirections...

for instance, as you have IT related site (Web developers and programmers) i am willing to exchange link with you on f-h.com - if you agree with that -> PM me. and so on

PageRank is a measure of interconnectivity or link popularity and has nothing to do with link title and keyword density.

link title and keyword density can help your rankings significantly, but have nothing to do with pagerank (as pagerank is only a simple measure of link popularity across the web).

indeed, i went out of pr context to seo, but still, there is a close connection... cant you check pagerank on specific keywords? dont you think that is in corelation with keyword density on a page which send the link (pr), beside all the rest?

nope. keyword density has absolutely nothing to do with pagerank.

@awall19: ok then, are you telling me that fractional-pr-per-keyword (i dont mean on number shown in google toolbar with this) on a site which has many links on strong keyword density pages for certaing keyword will be the same as with same amount of links on the sites which has nothing to do with that keyword?

you may be trying to describe the effects of localrank, but even that has nothing to do with on the page keyword density.

pagerank is a measure of link popularity and nothing else.

google has many other parts to it's algorithm, but they are defined in their own terms and not in terms such as "partial pagerank"
