Adsense impressions counter off?

I have a counter on my site that counts ad impressions. It shows about 400% more impressions than the impressions counter on my adsense report page, (for the same banner.)

I know some impressions may be considered invalid but, 3 out of every 4 is not counted? What gives here?

I also saw a difference between what is counted by AdSense and another stats counter. I have no idea why is this happening, but this means lost money for us.

I've been thinking, and perhaps it is because AdSense only counts each unique visit as one impression, even if the visitor views 6 or 8 pages with the ads.

I guess it's not really a problem other than making my CTR look higher. That CTR doesn't change the value of the "per click" payout, does it? If it does, then this is all to my advantage.

Only google knows the formula on how to compute the impressions. For the sake of the subscriber, it's better that google will provide clear explanation on how they compute the impressions.
