Very sporadic google rankings - why?

Hey everyone,

For some reason my website's Google ranking for some keywords seems to fluctuate a TON. By this I mean being at spot 400, then 12, then 289. I've been using social bookmarking to try and get some traffic, and I realize that some of these links will appear and dissapear; that's what I thought was the initial cause.

The only problem with that solution is that I'm doing the same thing for many keywords, but this is only happening to about half of them. The other half have moved up, and then they will slowly move down if I don't keep on working at it.

Another thing that leads me to believe there is more going on is that for some of those keywords, the initial page that was at spot 12 is no longer in the top 1000 results ( but if I do a site:mysite search I can still find the page in there ) And a different page that is more general ( maybe has the keyword in it one or two times ) is at that spot 289.

Overall I'm somewhat lost. I'm doing all of this social bookmarking stuff manually ( I could write a bot, but I'm a bit morally against that ) so I really want my time to be worth something. If anyone has any clues as to what might be the cause, please and thank you for your reply.

My friend, there are many ways you can do for your site to rank in SE's, social bookmarking is good but it is not the only way and SEO is is the answer to your problem!

My only explanation for the problem you are facing!
Google is confused, which makes you and me confused as well.

My friend, there are many ways you can do for your site to rank in SE's, social bookmarking is good but it is not the only way and SEO is is the answer to your problem!
