Links in Large Forums
I've seen quite a few people who either mask their website names, or simply don't post them in the public section on large webmaster forums. Is there any real reason for doing this? Listing links in your signature on large forums no doubt raises your traffic, but does it at the same time lower your PR? My link is listed in my signature on several large forums, there are linkbacks in quite a few blog comments I've left, and some of my clients also give links to my site. Yet, my site still at PR0. I'm beginning to think it is, in fact, because it's listed on these large forums. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?
Thanks!

Of course it helps your site, when you have it in the signature in large forums, like v7n. It helps you, that google will find your site easier, when someone is searching something, what has to do with you site. He will find it easier, because of the big forums at v7n and the high PR. Do a google search for your sites, after you posted a lot in here and added it in your link you will seee, that it will comes up on the first place. When you put enough helpful keywords in your signature, it will help people, to find you and your site (signature) better.

Content is important..Thats okay.
But we need link building too for higher PR.
PR 2 is not a good one.
And you can submit to the quality directory for good backlink

Links in large forums are harmless for your website PR; they can even contribute a bit to increase your PR.

Why would signature links hurt you? If that is the case there are thousands of people in trouble.
I don't think it's your signature in large forums thats your problem.

Thanks for your responses guys/gals. Since now I know this isn't my problem, is there anyone who can take a look at my site and help me figure out why it remains at a PR0 even with the linkbacks that I have. How many different sites do I need linkbacks on to achieve at least a PR1?

Help, I am drowning in Google. I hope someone can help me here.
My website has been crawled by Google several times now. I have tons of links to other pages within my website and tons of links that point to pages off of my website. The links that point to pages within my website (other pages authored by me) are contained within buttons at the top of my page, but are also duplicated as text links at the very bottom of my page.
Here is my problem: Google (nor any other crawler I have seen) has been able to see any of these webpages. According to Google webmaster, I only have my 1 page. My splash page if you will. But my website is much more than just one page.
Why does Google or any other crawler not see them, and how can I get all of my pages to be seen by Google as one whole website? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
My site is able to be found here, if you have any suggestions.

Having links and linkbacks to sites related to your content, is always good.
If you links to or have incoming links from Bad Area Neighborhood (BAN), it is BAD.
At times you could be an innocent victim of BAN where you have a link directory or un-moderated forum on your domain. Spammers from Russia to China post links there. Google bot notes these down. On your next PR update, Google BOSS! reduces your PR.
My advice, listen to Google Boss. Design your website to please your users and NOT! Googlebot!

Sig links will bring you traffic and might have a negligible positive effect for your PR. I don't seem them being detrimental in any way.

It can only give a benefit to your site.
It is almost impossible for off-site factors to cause a penalization - the worst it can do is have no effect at all.
Otherwise your competitors could easily destroy your site.

Any forum I post in I try to have a signature link. Even if it does not help with search engines those are potential people who may visit the site if the signature interests them.
That's my thoughts anyways

If it's a highly competative niche forum it could be that the forum members don't want others in the same niche to know what their web properties are.

What if the forum has nothing in common with your site. For example, here I am on a web development forum but my site has nothing to do with web development or SEO.
So, would those irrelevant links still be helping?
