Google punished innocent blog.
Recently i found weblog which 100% friendly for everyone and never did any promotions.
www.pansypatrol.com
This weblog lost pr during last update from pr3.
As you can see, it is enthusiastic blog from guys who write about cars.
They never did any promotion, link submissions, they never bought any link, they never sell any link. This website never appeared on any Google banned website or link farm.
Only 40 websites link them (mostly related blogs which belong to their friends and family). Also site appear in social networks like Digg, Reddit, Technorati...
WTF?

Punished? How so?
You lost pagerank, so what? Have your SE rankings dropped?

Have you considered that the sites linking to the blog lost PR which in turn could lower their PR?

I have to agree with this statement. As long you are still ranking, I can't see how this is a penalty.

Yep I don't see a penalty either.
Page Rank is a grossly inaccurate measurement - and most likely highly distorted to help Google keep webmasters confused about their algo.

Big deal honestly only good thing PR is good for is the people who love to sell links on web sites. Our site went from N/A to PR5 and seen almost no difference in our hits from google. Seen the same results from sites losing PR as well.
If you have unique content and keywords very few sites have you're going to still get the traffic from the engines whether you're a PR1 or a PR7

Wait a minute!
How did they get a PR of 3 (to begin with) with only 40 backlinks from family and friends?
I have well over 2000 and I am only a pr2.

PR 3 - 40 backlinks
PR 2 - 2000 backlinks

I think you just focused on the links but not in the quality of the content and
it's relevancy, remember that in getting a PR is not about how many backlinks
you have but the quality of your content and it's relevancy and even it is
just 3 but quality backlink you will get a PR!

It's not the quantity of backlinks that PR is calculated, it's the quality. The quality backlinks you get the better the PR you have.

I think Cricket is correct. You lost PR because the sites that were linking to you also lost PR. So it's a chain result for your site.

I doubt it was a case of google "punishing an innocent blog". Their algorithm changes from time to time, which causes changes in PR. Lots of sites fell this time around. Also, your incoming links may have lost PR as well. If they lose PR, then it affects you too. It's a domino affect.

On the contrary many blogs got PR 0 to 2 & 3 on this update, I guess the IB links might have get devalued that caused this drop.

I'm sure Google has no clue what they did to your site. We're all needles in a haystack to them.

Yes possible. They are after all bots.
Many bots go round collecting data all over the internet. Bots report to their supervisor bot. There could also be many supervisor bots reporting to one human or to few manager bots. Manager bot reports to human worker. Human worker reports to his supervisor. Supervisor to human manager who makes the decision to reduce your page rank. He presses a button on his PDA and the message is sent to manager bot who receives the go ahead to reduce the page rank.
