I'm almost at number one, what can I do next?

After a lot of work and waiting for google to do its “thing” I’m back at number two on google.com for the keyword “twenty 20 cricket” and a number of different google servers. I hope that by Monday at the latest I’ll be number two on all of google’s servers.

Now, I need to move up to number one. The top slot is fill by a page that come from bbc.co.uk, if isn’t as well formatted as my site, its got a lower pagerank and only one backlink but it is from a site that as 32,000 plus pages behind it.

I’ve read through a lot of threads on this site and to get to number one am I right in thinking that “backlinks” are the answer.

I’m going to set aside a week of backlink building in a hope to get to number one.

Is this the way to go about it?

Yes more links with achor text if possible. You may not be able to beat the BBC but it is worth a try

I've spent some time getting back links with the anchor text saying "Twenty 20 Cricket" but I'm going to try anything to shift the BBC from number one, one page should'nt keep an entire site off number one just because it as 32,000 pages behind it.
