Google Says....Only Big Companies (that spend lots with us) Can Buy Links
Wanted to get everyone's opinion on something.
Business.com is buying links and very obvious ones at that.
for proof see here: [link removed]
With all the recent paid links fiasco what does this mean? Are they slapping Google in the face? Is is OK for everyone to buy links now?
What do you think?

Go to Forbes.com and scroll down to the bottom of the page, left hand side. Business.com is buying links with the phrases: Business Products & Business Marketing

Hmm, interesting. If forbes has a PR4 (being decreased from the previous level), business.com still has a PR7! That means they aren't penalized for buying links ... at least for that moment.

Google seems to bounce around a lot trying to figure out the best way to work things out. It seems like everytime someone gets a way to bypass something of theirs, it will get changed up pretty quick.
I know a few people who are getting Google slapped right now, it's like being in 2005 again!

It will be very interesting to see whether or not Google will slap Business.com considering the huge amount of money they spend with Google in adwords and the huge amount of revenue they bring into adsense itself.
We shall see.

This is in no way a fair game. G itself is selling links. I guess they can come up with any rules they like with their site.
After all business relationship is something that counts.

It is definitely not a fair game out there, not by any means. Does anyone actually think that Google would punish such a big money maker as business.com? Only if we raise a big stink, and maybe not even then.

Life's not fair. If I promote your site, do you expect me to get the same treatment as other visitors using your service?
Of course not. This goes with anything else. If you're spending over a certain amount in Adwords I'm sure that Google will do a little something special for you.

Google sell their own links, see here
People should spend more time researching factual information, rather than taking forum posts as Gospel.
Why did Google target certain high ranking directories?
Because they networked with their peers to over inflate their sites PR, this gave the impression a website was more established than it actually was. The only way to sort out this problem was to manually cut the selected sites. Googles job was made much easier as all they had to do was read the Digital Point forum.
Of course this act by Google was followed by mass panic and hysteria by people who are ignorant to the working of search engines.

Do you what the funny thing about all of this is? Is that it all has to with what Google provides website owners and webmasters...a way to be found. So of course they can do what ever they wish within the world of G. Fair or not. Webmasters just seem to rely too much on what they provide them for free...traffic. And a lot of webmasters got gready and minipulated the situation...and still do, over and over again. They feel (being their company) that they are often losing control.
We have to look at the big picture. If we are going to allow G to "control" what is seen on the web (assuming they are the only tool), then unfortunately we have to deal with the outcome. Maybe it is time to focus a little more on other SE's for traffic...and tap deaply into the social networks before Google controls this as well.
Just a thought.

business.com has their own advertising network where they place adds on forbes, entrpaneur, start up nation etc
http://www.business.com/info/adverti....dir.footer.ge
I have ppc adds running on their network, but they are super expensive.
imho google could slap business.com with a massive penality and take them back down to a pr0 and they will be pr7 again by next update.
I have a google alert for link: BUSINESS.COM URL and every day there are about 10 new links appearing, and every single one of them is from bloggers. Bloggers have no real information to provide to people so they just link to other sites, they are like the brokers of the information world.
It would be impossible to get ahead of business.com and even if google slapped them there would be over 1 million bloggs saying oh shit look business.com got slapped and there is another 1 Mill links and penalty avoided. imho remove bloggers from the serps

3 more near identical blogs linking to business.com
blognews-blogfrc.blogspot.com/
sitenews-blogh1z.blogspot.com/
infosite-blog14b.blogspot.com/
and yet even another one
infoblog-blogzj6.blogspot.com/
again looks almost identical. If I put my conspiracy hat on for a minute, I would say that business.com has paid someone to create blogs and make links to them, then make more blogs with more links and the cycle continues.

Or blogs created by an automated program? Google does use CAPTHA, but still it looks like...

yeah id buy that it is an automated program making these blogs because they are all virtually identical, with the same stories in a different order.
So question is, who is making the blogs, is it business.com or is it just some rabid fan on a power trip.
Either way it really, really pisses me off because its like a never ending supply of brand new back links for business.com and I should have come up with it first.... it is not cool.
