I work for the UK arm of Google. May I ask if your site is hosted on a non US server???????????????

I have just dicsovered that Google engineers are now targetting English language sites that aren't hosted out of known US-based ISPs

Anyone who has a .net, .org or .com site hosted outside the USA is now being dropped to the very end of the search results

This is supposedly being done as an anti spam measure, as most spam sites are written in English but hosted from China India, Australia Hong Kong and other countries

Of course, if you are a legitimate web site business and your content is written in English but not hosted in the USA happy ****ing Christmas dude as yo've just been screwed.

More worrying is a friend of mine who has just been posted to the Google buziness in America he says that the move to give prefference to USA sites has been agreed after the politicians there put the big squeeze on the G's management

So much for do no evil --- right.

Well, why don't I believe that? And even if it were true, guess what? SInce stumble, digg, reddit and so on, the web no longer revolves around google for traffic and targeting customers. Google is losing ground. Seriously.

Of course, we do not want to miss out the potential, but to punish a site for being a .com that's nonsense.

Google employees have better things to do than start riots on webmaster forums.

and if they did stop by to give us info on upcomming / current changes they would just stop to link us to a google press release.

it is possible maybe even probable, but not my interpretation.

Doesnt make his thread an more valid IMHO.

If google was going to announce something they wouldn't go from forum to forum posting it.

+ the idea of stopping spam by dropping non us hosted sites is completely retarded. spammers would just start hosting their sites in the US, its probably no more expensive, and they would just pass any extra cost onto the people they rip off anyway.
