Multiple Websites And PR

After hours of trying to get reciprocal (and even the golden egg back links) i have decided one ploy is to build up a network of sites i am currently at PR4 and it seems to stay there

Has anyone tried this approach at the moment i have 3 other embyonic sites that i have cross linked

Main site has PR4 , 1 has pr3 and the other 2 are new and have no pr .

I need a PR of atleast 6 to be competitive on my keywords on tmy main site so here goes...

It will likely be very hard to have enough sites to be able to build your PR4 all the way to PR6. But, having multiple sites can help. For each site you need to make sure it has unique content and somewhat unique look and feel will help also. All sites should be submitted to DMOZ especially and other directories as well.

Then for all sites build backlinks. Yes it is time-consuming but the resuts are worth it.

Good Luck!

Thanks Nitin

I wish i was 10 years younger and started this 10 years ago - was hoping for early retirement but i'll probably be retired before i finish all the sites

PR

Why not buy a link on a PR 7/10 site?

There are lots of forums etc that sell static text links or banner ads for a $100 a month etc.

You could get your 6/10 rank in a month and get some useful traffic at the same time.

Buy An Ad

Thanks discountdomains i haven't come across any uk forums etc. if you could suggest some that would be helpful

My main criteria for choosing advertising is probably quite obvious

price quality and quantity of traffic

I am UK based and my customers need to be UK so the advertising site will have to be targetted

My site is a cashback shopping service so i'm looking for sites that have people wanting to shop ideally product reviews or other shopping sites

In theory a US site is feasible if it is of interest but the traffic delivered will be next to useless so i think UK it has to be

PR

Don't be worried about the location of the link.

Most people buy links to get the "general" effect of a higher PR, rather than the traffic from specifc links.

I would look for a US site as there so many more of them.

Tony,

If you are looking for links put a signature in your profile on this forum and then every message you send will end up being a link back to you.

You say you need to be a PR6 to get into the SERPs. There is really no go evidence for that. PR has very little to do with SERP placement. However, the number of links to your page and the anchor text used in those links does have an impact. So get a whole bunch more links and don't worry specifically about the PR value of the linking pages.

Someone recommended DMOZ. This is a useless recommendation in many ways. To start with there is nothing magic about DMOZ. A listing there is just another link. And it may take you years to get listed there. There are many more product ways to spend your time than submitting to DMOZ.

Tony,

Submit to Dmoz. It is a directory, you will end up with a relevant link and they do have PR. I think Compar needs some sleep or something.

The beautiful thing about DMOZ is that the DMOZ data is used by so many other directories. One listing in DMOZ in effect multiplies and ends up being a couple dozen links.

This DMOZ category:
Computers: Internet: Searching: Directories
Open Directory Project: Sites Using ODP Data

Lists 281 sites using ODP data, including the Google Directory, AOL, Netscape and Alexa.

Dmoz is very important....

looks like compar has been working too hard today....

PR does matter - Most of the time - if you search your top keyword - the first sites that come up are the highest PR ranking sites.... So if everything is just right AND you hold a high PR - you just might win your spot..... But Without the PR - you'll be staring at your competitors...

DMOZ DOES has something majical about it - but I dont yet know what it is....

But I do know it's the ONLY way to get yourself into the Google Directory.... You will wind up getting more links... Theres actually scripts out there that take the DMOZ dumps and implement there links into other sites... Plus plenty of people take there links and copy them because they know there good.... If your planing on building a network of sites to market yourself, it will work.... But don't forget that you'll have to make your network a success instead of your one website.. before your links are valuable from the network sites - they will have to be valuable first..

You'll want to make sure that there not all on the same IP address - Cause G's not stupid.... If your register 10 domain names and through up 10 sites at 142.87.756.99 and link them all to your site, it may just count them as one link.....
