If one validates a page at
http://validator.w3.org/ , on success one is taken to a confirmation page, inviting one to proudly place a 'valid html' or 'valid css' badge on one's page, linking to that success page.
That success page seems to be of good pagerank (toolbar PR6 when I looked, on the HTML validator success page). It contains a plain HTML link pointing at one's validated page.
Does anyone have any theories as to whether Google counts these incoming validator links as valid PR votes, once found and indexed via the link from one's own page - or do they filter them out as being something abusable? Am I getting the wrong end of the stick here or is this yet another good reason to validate one's pages? Do these success pages actually get indexed?
