I'm seeing that. If you are not posting a couple of times a day the crawl and your traffic dies quick.

But how does a bot know if a site is updated if they don't crawl it first? It sounds a bit strange to hear, sounds reverse somehow.

My site gets crawled once every 2 days. It started at one a week ( or less ) and the frequency has increased as the content has grown.

I do not really know how often G crawl my site.

Yet I often check my site's cache time so I do know G cache my site around twice a week.

If you have adsense on your site, you also get visted by the adsense bot. The Google and adsense bot share the same cache.

It's different on my websites, but 1 of my sites gets crawled every day (main page). The others 2-3 a week.

One factor to how often google bot crawls your site is "backlinks".

Google makes it a habit to crawl my site daily especially the inner pages. Home page is crawled twice a week.

My latest site is less than a month old. I've not submitted a site map or submitted the site anywhere. I have no backlinks.

Google crawls that site 4 times a day. Yahoo crawls it every day. I think it's that often because I update it with original content every other day. I think the original bit has a lot to do with it. I believe that search engines not only look for regular updates, but they also like original content.

it all depends on Google...there's no specific time and date on when bots will crawl a certain site...

I agree with many of the replies, the more I post on my website the higher the crawl rate. I find that as soon as I post something, give it about 30 minutes and it's indexed and on Google. But I try to add 3 or 4 post a day to my website. From articles, to pictures and videos.

Yahoo and MSN though, are really slow at indexing my website.
