What Sitelinks mean in Google webmasters?

I just checked a few things in the google webmasters and saw in the links category, 8 Sitelinks from my site.

Do you know the meaning?

For trusded domains Google show homepage and 8 other most popular pages when someone type domain name in Google search.

I checked your link, and this is what they say "Webmasters always wondered how Google can show different sitelinks under some of the websites results. It was for sure that Google was showing this sitelinks for Authority sites only and webmasters guessed that Google would decide which links to show."

but I don't see my site as authority perhaps it is a glitch from Google

Well I see all trusted sites (authority) with all the 8 links under the domain name, but not mine. I am not sure to understand.

Don't we all wish that Google would provide a way to at least suggest what Sitelinks you see. Not to mention what you can do to help yourself get sitelinks. I think it clearly seems to be higher traffic sites and only the number one position but I could be wrong.

Well, I am not number one, and to be honest with you I really don't care. If I am on the first page results I will be happy.

I am not a high traffic site, and I don't understand these sitewide links, because it doesn't show up on the Google index. In those 8 links recorded on the webmaster tools links, one is https which give nothing else for visitors as they get results on the http.

I think Google needs to explain why they display this on the wesmaster tools and not the index.

I dont get it.

Does it really helps to have sitelinks shown in the SERPs? i don't think it makes much of a difference.

It could help the visitors. Why do you think directories have got featured spots with deep links? Isn't to get a better exposure, BL and show as much info as the site owner can?

Really it can be a plus.

As others said, Google only does this for trusted sites, so if they show up for your site, it's a very good thing.

I've got the answer by Google, basically the sitelinks showed on the webmaster tools are just a potential authority site, but that does't mean it will be. You can have sitelinks listed on the webmasters tools and never be an authority site.

I am not looking for that anyway, like I said before if I can be on the first page results as much as I can, I will be very happy.
