MixCat Link Directory made it to number two on Google...
.. for the keyword "targeted backlinks"! I'm just elated seeing a lot of hard work paying off

Our directory used to be #1 for "targeted link backs" but had second thoughts and instead wanted to rank number 1 on the other keyword which is more likely to be searched

This proves that forum participation have value in SERP.

Also ranking 5th on Yahoo for the same keyword

Thanks guys!

Actually this is more of an experiment on how forum participation affect SERP. The posts use to have titles with "targeted link backs" - during the time we held the top position for that key phrase. I decided to change future title posts with "targeted backlinks" (which we never ranked for before) on the title to see if it will affect SERP. After a month, I saw that we were ranking #1 (sometimes #2) for the latter key phrase and lost ranking for the former.
