Ordering of SERPs in site: Query

Does anyone know how Google currently decides to order the pages returned for a site: query? I need to know this for a test plan I'm developing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

as far as i know once google crawl and index your site... though you can't force bots to crawl it.. you can do some way to help crawlers to find your site faster...

A good question! I had a root around the Internet but nobody seems to know.

It's not the date they were last crawled.

It's not PageRank.

I've really no idea. I very much like the question, though.

I haven't managed to find anyone who's talking about this, but that doesn't mean it isn't out there...

I think it is just listed by the age of the website. This is a very simple yet complicated question. Have you tried asking google?

Not asking how Google crawls a site. I'm trying to determine how Google orders the results in a site: query.

The only thing I have noticed is that the least important pages always seem to be near the end of the list.

Google ranks your pages for different keywords based on backlinks, content and many other factors.
When a keyword is searched its shown on order of the ranks.

Did you even bother reading this thread?

No one is asking about SERPS. The question involves site queries.

I agree with this completely. While I do not have any hard data to back it up. When using the site command Google typically lists the pages it uses most important first. i.e. that is why the homepage is usually first on the list, and then sites that have supplemental pages, have those pages listed towards the end or shown only after the "click here for more results".

This may be just a hunch, but I did notice that my content-rich pages tend to show up earlier.
