whats with all this talk about subdomains? using subdomains is fine. google doesn't penalize your site for using them.

where did you get an idea like that? take a look at a real competitive keyword, web hosting. #1 is www.fortunecity.com

www IS a subdomain! you could have http://www.you.com go to a different page than http://you.com

google knows this and thats why on a lot of sites you'll see a different PR for http://url.com and http://www.url.com

They were suggested. I should rephrase that last one, got narrowed down to something.domain.com wont rank as high as www domain com.

It was all speculation I think. You wouldn't feel this makes any differnce at all?

I put some advertising to a sub, changed it around and missed the SE's... OOps. Now showing a couple hits coming from the other extension.

I left it up though, so no real harm done. I think I need to take it down so Google don't find dups. I hear that is a big no-no.

we were simply stating that generally it is easier to promote www.bla.com than to promote keyword.bla.com because it is usually easier to get a link into www.bla.com than keyword.bla.com

Sites above still don't contribute to our site's PR. I suspect the reason is that they have completely different content. Altavista yahoo shows them as links to our site. But keywords etc are all different. Google is not counting them. People who got highest PR are ones who create automated linkexchange offers who link to your site like:www.mysite/?cgi..redirect..blahblah?=yoursite, but in exchange request fair links like www.yoursite

I am noticing the same thing. No jump in PR, but I am seeing a significant increase in the amount of traffic coming from the Search Engines.

It's making me reflect on some of the posts in here that mentioned it's not all about the PR.

our sites's rank jumped from 2 to 5. It took 45 days to see results. I must work hard in next 45 days.

2 to 5 is pretty good in my opinion. I seem to be stuck at 4. But I am working hard at getting better too.
