Cool Ranking Good...weeks later dropped..week later back to ranking

Hey everyone,

I have searched and I can't quite find an exact answer. This is the problem and I'm pretty sure everyone has experienced this.

First things first. The site is verified by Google, the sitemaps are submitted and working and my robots.txt is in place. I added a few posts everyday to the site and the content is all 100% unique and written by me. I do not buy links or do anything other than a few social bookmarks here and there.

Every once and a while the site will completely drop from where it's ranking and stay that way for days and upto a week+. I'm wondering why this happens...My theory is that its when I resubmit my sitemap with the updated content this causes it..anyone got something to say?

The site in question is www.illstyling.com

sitemap doesn't have to do anything about the ranking position changes. maybe your just experiencing it because Google SERP is continuously updating. some sites might get deindexed or moved in rankings then after a while it get back to its original position.

are you so sure? Seems plausible it would because Google is now recalculating links and pages indexed?

thats normal dude... since some changes can really affect rankings.... just continue building links and promoting your site to maintain rankings..

Another thing that may have caused this is competition on the keywords you optimize for. Just be consistent with building links using your keywords as anchor texts and you will maintain and eventuallt improve your rankings in the long run

As mentioned, your competition is a factor. Just because you're building new content and backlinks doesn't mean your competitors aren't doing the same things.

Now the sites been dropped out again and I'm getting less than 10 hits a day from Google..weird weird weird. Done nothing but update it with unique content and I only social bookmark. Perhaps getting the same links from the same sites is hurting me? Time for some linkbait perhaps for fresh new links?
