Have a speculation about when Google will update?
Think the update has already started?
This is the thread for you.
Any new threads speculating about the next PR update will hopefully be merged into this one.
Let the fun begin.

Cricket, I was wondering, is there some sort of sign that an update is about to happen? I would presume that pageranks and indexed sites keep hectically rising and falling as Google reshuffles and realigns all the sites out there. But what happens even before that?
I would speculate that because of bandwidth and speed, Google first has to de-index pages and drop PR's before indexing new sites and raising PR's. Sounds like more sense than the other way around.
Any hints as to how this whole "event" works?

Also, can someone take advantage of such an update and bridge the gap between their own (new and less popular) site and another well-established competitor site?
I mean, during an update, one of your competitor's keyword rankings or particular page PRs might drop. If you for example, noticed that, would it make sense to immediately write content to bridge that keyword gap and take over their spot before other competitors move one spot up or is that just a silly thought?

i have seen our site move up quite a few positions in the past week. It is slightly fluctuating at present so we need to wait to see where it stops.
Not bothered about the PR update. Just algo updates. They are never as big as they were back like the florida update, that was a messy one.

i havent done anything nor change anything on my site. ive only been submitting articles and PR for the past few months.
i wonder what's wrong with my site.....its not a good start for the year...for my site

No pagerank update, BUT SERPs seem to have improved for two of my sites as traffic to both has gone up about 50% within the last few days...
I just love this speculation

crawl
I had 15 of my pages newly indexed last night, which is a lot for me, so I'm happy. I've been adding to and improving my sitemap, so that may be part of the equation. I've also moved up as far as some important SERPs and noticed more visitors coming in because of those SERP improvements.
Either way, it doesn't change the fact that I'm thrilled.

My site is only 1 year old and we are on a big learning curve in terms of SEO and traffic increase but I have noticed an increase in traffic in the last 2 weeks, also a massive improvement on google in terms of search engine positions for not 1 or 2 phrases but lots of different search phrases.
Also our page indexing dropped to approx 90 before Christmas but this morning it had hit 150.
Don't know if these indications give you experts or people in the know any insight as to whether an update has started but i'm certainly pleased to see increased unpaid traffic to my site.
Thanks.
P.S I'm not looking for SEO companies to do any work for me either thanks.

seems google has been gradually increasing the indexed pages in the past one -two weeks, probably related to the supplemental index announcement sometime back.

Has anyone tried the personalised search and search history features google rolled out at the beginning of this year?

It's good to see that Google is beginning to pay tribute to the underdogs.
