Does Google compensate for misspelled words?

Hi guys, I was just wondering: does Google show the same SERPs for misspelled words and their variations? Like say, will it show the same results pages for recruitmentagency and recruitment agency consistently, down to the 5th SERP downward or so?

I think the misspelled word will rank better than the correct one. Cause the misspelled word has a lower searches or competition.

It depends. It may not be effective even if there's little competition, but is barely searched. Same goes for a term that is searched a lot but has a crapload of competition... it's tough to get through in those sorts of situations. Need to find the middle ground, yeah?

What I do is I include the misspelled and other variations of the keywords / keyphrases in the metadata and alt text, but not in the actual text content. I feel that sacrificing readability for SEO is more disadvantageous than it is beneficial... plus, it sorta looks unprofessional...

I don't think it's enough to include them in the META TAGS. Google is not relying anymore on that info. You should have these words in the actual content of the page.

When it comes to meta keywords, that's correct. However, according to the SEO resources I've studied up on, meta descriptions are still quite viable.
