My blog went down
I just checked my blog today and it went down to pr0 from pr2. Is it common for things to fluctuate during the update or am I probably stuck at pr0? Any advice would be appreciated. Here's a link to my blog if you feel like double checking what I'm seeing in my google toolbar: [link removed]
Thanks for any info,
Matt

The One-and-Only Google Update Thread (March 2008)
Is Google in the middle of an update, cause a few of [link removed] keep bouncing around in PR. I know PR is 'useless', but this usually indicates there is a Google dance.
Also, do they still call it a 'dance'?
Thanks.

Yes, there is quite fluctuation in the keyword rankings. The results different too much in the the gap of hours also. It could be the effect of google dance.

Good luck to everyone else.

Google changes their strategies all the time... That's what you call unpredictable Google...Never know when...

I remained at PR3 this time around. I guess that's better than slipping...
I was hoping for at least one more notch but am still happy that I didn't lose anything...

i dont think you guys should look at pr closely as we all use to, as PR does not mean much now days, google has updated and upgraded their algo and things are being calculated differently, just write quality articles, with your link, submit these articles to high traffic sites and you will be on your way to a high traffic site ( and PR if you care )

I haven't noticed much change in traffic, but I do some sponsored posting on my blog which may be affected eventually.

I wonder what Google's cooking these days.. Seems they are updating the PR every month now. 1st update this year was last January and they did some updates last February, too. I have not noticed any changes with my PR and backlinks these days, perhaps something's up this month, too.

I searched for my site and I see an update in backlinks, but no change in backlinks. What happens first, the PR update or the backlink update?

Hi ... adding my 2 cents: back links up dated about 2 March 2008, increased by about a factor of 4. As of 12 March 2008, no change in PR, still PR4, but available prediction tools indicate a PR5, based on back links. See first sig link for site. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Yes, the sudden rise would look suspicious. The algorithm takes all sorts of things like that into account. Particularly if you keep using the same anchor text as in your first post. That just makes it worse.
(I'm referring to anchor text in monicahere's post on the previous page, not GiorgiosK's posts, just to be clear)

PR is relative to the rest of the world...others increased back links at a faster rate than you.
If you were penalized by Google you would be 0.

What its done to my sites in the last week:
-New Site: pr0 to 4
-Site1: pr3 to 4 (keyword ranking for this site bit the dust went from the 3 spot page 1 to 1 spot page 2)
-Site2: pr3 to 3
-Site3: pr4 to 2
-Site4: pr3 to 4 (huge recent increase in traffic after redesign!)
-Blog: pr0 to 4!!
Not much fluctuation on most of them which is good I guess.
