I think the fastest indexing is 3 days depending on your submission.

What i have experienced is that Google indexes a Newbie in about 8 days with No Site Submission. This is automated indexing which usually takes a week.

There is no exact time on indexing a site. It's up to the spiders when it crawls your site faster.

It is for blogs only! Google don't index this pages... they just pick RSS and index title with description. Full indexation of blog pages happens when crawler actually visit page.

I am trying to figure out how 2 of my oscommerce sites were indexed- i never submitted them to google or linked to them, but they were indexed in less than a week after i created them.... google is on top of things these days, as far as indexing is concerned

If you have RSS feeds on your site it was probably discovered by Technorati and Google found your site crawling technorati and other services like this.
Google can discover websites crawling Alexa as well.
It happened when Google discoveres new sites visiting sites which provide informaation about domain, traffic, RSS feeds, website histore etc...

as far as i know rss or any other form of feeds do not come with oscommerce, though they can be added via' contributions submitted by users and i never installed any of them on my sites. also, my sites had no alexa ranking as they were brand new. i never submitted them to any one or anything. According to the wayback machine at archive.org my domains have never been registered. I am actually starting to wonder if my domain service (dynadot) is not somehow responsible???

1) Is it new domain? Maybe you bought domain which expired years ago and it used to be some website.
Once you open your site Google visited it again and indexed right away.

2) Someone who visited your site had installed toolbars (Google, Yahoo, MSN, Alexa, SNAP...). All this toolbars collect information about websites which user visit and send this data to different services. Somwhere your url poped up and Google picked it by sending spiders.

To make you feel better I can tell that the same happened with me before when ASK.com indexed my site when it was demo script only.
