Google SERPS changed

About two weeks ago I started showing up in the SERPS for some new keywords I was targeting. As of today I dropped from the SERPs for those keywords and Google's cache of my page has reverted back to a copy about a month old. Any idea what's going on with that?

SERPs have been changing daily for a while now. sometimes with that daily change you will drop considerable amounts in rank only to regain it the next day. So I say give it a day or two before you start freaking out too much over it. It is odd that they are using an old cache. My cache has been updating daily along with SERPs

I agree, since the major update in the SERPS about two weeks ago, when I started showing up, I have been steadily climbing for all the new major keyword phrases I was targeting on an almost daily basis. You can imagine my dismay, while checking my longest keyword phrase, I saw I had gone from number 2 to not being listed!

What you are experiencing is something called 'Rolling SERP updates.' These Rolling SERP updates (RSUs,) are quite common in Google since the Florida update.

Just like the stock market, you should not watch the day to day activity, rather watch the weekly or monthly in contrast to the last week or month.

In a few days, if not in a couple hours, you will see what is called 'THE Google Update.' THE Google Update happens about once every 3 to 4 weeks and will be a large weighting factor in the SERPs.

Also if your site is new you may see a very quick and high ranking for your keywords. Then a few days or even a week later you may notice that you've completely fallen out. This is normal for new sites and isn't permanent.
