Google Ranking Issues

I have a local SERP problem. I am located in Israel and doing an seo campaign for a new york carpet cleaning service. Searching google for main keyword phrases turns out to be very confusing, when I cannot determine where to query google to get the results pages a new yorker would get. I noticed tremendous differences in my sites ranking between different methods (aspecially when google analytics records visits to my web sites from both US and Israel).

Using plain google search for "carpet cleaning manhattan" ranks the landing page <url removed> #3-#4.
Using firefox SEO tool searching United States (adds meta=cr%3DcountryUS to the querystring), shows almost the same results, some results are missing, but my landing page ranks the same.
Using google as preview tool, searching google.com from United States, New York, New York, the landing page ranks #45.
Using http://oyoy.eu/google/world/ with United States as the location, same page ranks #17.

I have the same issue with other websites as well. Does anyone know how I can make sure I get the most accurate results without flying to New York every day, and how google calculates the SERP for different locations worldwide?

You could try using either proxies (set in your browser) or CGI proxies that are located in US.

Another option would be if you have a hosting in US and your hosting has CGI scripts enabled you could install http://www.jmarshall.com/tools/cgiproxy/ and access google for your searches.

You can try just using google.us instead, results will be different also cause of the different assosiations people have in different countries.

You may also hit different data centers, which are normally not in perfect syncronization. But thats the nature of the beast, like we all know.

You may want to use google webmaster tools that help with keywords, rankings, and clicks for the site.
