Google search engine rankings

Hello all,

I am Venkat. I am monitoring rankings of my site ( for some other sites also) for the targeted keywords everyday. sometimes i will do it twice or thrice in a day. I observed that rankings changed everytime i.e., day to day and also from time to time when i checked during the day also.

Can anyone let me know when does google updates its search engine results. Is it happens once in a day or more than once in a day.

Please help me out to find google search engine ranking pattern.

Looking forward to your replies.

Venkat.

This is normal, rankings can change depending on a number of factors, such as which datacenter Google is using to send results. Rankings can change all the time. It's just the way it is.

As long as the changes in rank are not big, you have little to worry about here.

From http://www.google.com/support/webmas...n&answer=34443

"Occasionally, fluctuation in search results is the result of differences in our data centers. When you perform a Google search, your query is sent to a Google data center in order to retrieve search results. There are numerous data centers, and many factors (such as geographic location and search traffic) determine where a query is sent. Because not all of our data centers are updated simultaneously, it's possible to see slightly different search results depending on which data center handles your query.

We understand that these changes can be confusing. If your site is well-linked from others on the web, it's likely that we'll add it again during our next crawl. While we can't guarantee that any page will consistently appear in our index or appear with a particular rank, our Webmaster Guidelines (http://www.google.com/support/webmas...y?answer=35769) offer helpful tips for maintaining a crawler-friendly site. Following these recommendations should increase the likelihood that your site will show up consistently in our search results."

I agree that rankings will change everyday. But is there any specific time for google to update its results in a day.

Does anyone know about from which data centre the results will come when i make a search in Google.com from India.

Thanks

Google has many datacenters which collect information from different sources. Each datacenter rank websites different depending on information this particular datasenter has.
Datacenters exchange information with each other on a regular basis and they update their information for each website on 27/7 basis without brakes, lunches, and days off.

Because it is 24/7 process it meant that each website gain value and loosing value all the time. It is like stock market where stocks go up and down. It means that your site could loose and gain some positions on a daily basis.

The most important thing is that in high competitive field websites go up and down really fast.
