about adword pricing...

hi i just had a question..im not sure if it was asked before.

if i want to start an adwords advertisement...
how do i find out how much per click i should pay to keep it on the first page? is it just trial and error?

or is there a site with a list of keywords and their rates?

I'm confused in what you are asking. From what I can understand you want to know if there is a "going rate" for keywords?
No, I have never heard of such a table for this. Keyword prices are set by popularity and demand by the companies who run ads.

Example would be: Harley-Davidson. (popular word and highly demanded by sites) An advertiser would pay (I think it's) 1.25 per click. (Google) but Google pays .03 to the site that runs the ad.

If you used the word: Dork. You may only pay .05 (not a popular keyword and not many sites list it as a keyword they will host) the host would be paid .01

Be careful with adwords. The post pay feature is nice. But I know of quite a few newbies who rack up a large bill and do not end up with the sales to back it up. Adwords can be excellent. just use it with caution and remember that the numbers the tool provides are estimates only and can vary dramatically.

There are also many other factors that impact the price your site will pay. CTR, quality score, landing page these are all items that can cause the price you pay for a click to be more or less than that of your competitors.

You will gradually gain experience running the Google AdWords units in a batter and more fruitful way, for the time being try the limited versions, setting the daily maximum spending limit and then evaluate the results for sometime and then can add to the budget.
