New Google featured results

Hello,

I just discovered the new featured spots from google and I think it is very deceptive.

Google is testing featured results in the middle of page to force visitors clicking on their ads or spots, as far as the featured results, I don't see any interest to rank commercial videos from youtube.com or new adwords ad spots.

After the Christmas tree adsenses directories, now we've got Google Christmas tree commercials.

I am very disappointed, that internet start to be nothing more than commercials, and some visitors will avoid sites and Chritsmas tree search engines for sure.

Search engines inovations should be informative, not for pure commercials.

What are your thoughts?

Yes if you can get a screenshot that would be great.

If I read correctly you are saying some Google results have the sponsored links in the middle of search results which make things appear deceptive.

In one way I agree with you. I would like search results to be clean and free of ads.

But then again adsense owners place ads smack in the middle of the content to do the same thing so Google is really doing the same thing (though perhaps a bit more forcefully).

Lastly, you have to remember that if Google takes things too far other companies will come up and rival it (though this can take time). Ultimately, if people aren't happy they will leave and use a different service.

I did not take a screenshot, but it was like in a large font "results on video, results on book, etc.... in the middle of the page search query.

Skinny I agree with you, search engines should focus on quality not on advertising.

Adwords was on the right column, then they decided to add more advertisement on the top results page, and know they test the middle?

I really don't like the concept that someone is trying to force me to read advertisements if I dont want too.

It is just a question of freedom.
