Yes, most links are good links. So get your 100 of links from PR 6 sites and millions from PR 0's. Unless they are nofollowed, they still will help. And even if they are nofollowed, they still help define which keywords you should rank for.

PR does matter, especially in competitive niches. But the site that has the most backlinks with the searched for terms in the anchor text will likely rank higher.

Basically, in my opinion PageRank serves many useful benefits that it can give to your site. But to be more specific, it is mainly an impression for the visitors, advertisers, link partners etc by which is quite important too to uplift the performance regarding the productivity and functionality of your site.

The higher the PageRank of your site the higher probability a single visits might stays longer because it will give the visitors a perceived idea that the site’s contents can be very useful and they tend to dig more the pages of your site or even better, refer your site to others. Also if you want to make money from your blog through advertisement, you can charge advertisers more for ads placed on your site. And you have many options to choose from because a high PageRank will lure many advertisers to advertise from your site. Also the same thing happens in luring link partners. The higher your PageRank is, the more chance that you can get quality link partners.

NOTE: If you want to rank well in major search engines, concentrate more in link building process and step aside your eager to have a higher PageRank for your site. It might just ruin your optimization process because SEO is all about competition in Search Engine.

my site is listed in DMOZ and other directories

but there is no PR in my site...

it is fake

Our new-ish site (7 months) went from PR 0 to PR 3 last month.

We just write non-shock articles on our home renovation and energy conservation experiences which gradually build up visitors over time.

I have also found more respect from potential advertisers when they se a PR of 3 vs PR of 0.

Any idea what ad rates are for PR3? I have no idea.

Somehow there's a benefit having high PR because other site will likely want to link with you thus, It will create an opportunity for your site to gain more traffic that sometimes lead to sales of your product. I don't say that you have to prioritize getting high PR, it will just come in if your doing great on your SEO efforts

And how they will know that? I’m sure they won't stop by some PR checker after they find my site in G. search results and before they choose to visit my site. But even if they go to PR checker first according to you

which kind of crazy if they can do that just by looking at my PR alone without visiting my site first.

I don't think so... Although not a big factor anymore unlike before but its still useful in terms of having link partners.

I have sas that most of the users have not install Google Tool Bar. So how u display the GPR. and I think users are not familiar with GPR

so there is no benefit of GPR

just curious, do you know a website that ranks well in Google that has PR0??? And the keyword is competitive? I've tried looking for it, but so far haven't found it yet.

jehriya, u must be ignoring most important factor of google. higher PR always mater a lot. especialllt if u use competative keyword. A competative keyword will be in top only when ur site having higher PR 3 and lots of backlink . mind it.. google is in serious business u can't make anyone fool!!

Google is built on PageRank..it has to mean something.
Links on higher PageRanks will boost you in the rankings.
