What is the average Page Rank in google

Im quite new to seo and wondering what is the average pagerank. Are there any pr10 ranked sites? (I would love to see one). My pages are ranked at pr3 and one for some reason is pr4. Im presuming that is below average and one would have to be some sort of expert to get to say pr7 let alone pr10.

Actually, I think 3 and 4 is pretty good.

Well, let's see..

Yahoo, MSN, and Youtube are 9's, Myspace is an 8, and Google is a 10. In fact, Google may be the only 10 out there. Anybody know of any other 10's?

No, PR10 is possible to those who aren't Google.

Here is a list of PR10 sites: http://www.searchenginegenie.com/pagerank-10-sites.htm

Well, it's next to impossible. The list is, what, 10 sites, and half of them are government sites. I wonder what kind of SEO NASA or the White House did to get the 10 ranking?

Yeah, no idea how many backlinks you would need to get there. Millions most likely...

They are what you would call authority sites.

In real life, they may have PR0 but G. gives them priority over our sites to make sure
search results from these sites come up before your and my

sclick is liked by many
Hi ... adding some information: salon.com is PR7 and has 1.2+ million back links. Adobe, which I think is a ten, has 10+ million back links. It's possible to move into the higher levels, but darn hard for ordinary people. Maybe a PR7 makes one extra-ordinary. Good luck.

I would say the scale is semi-logarithmic, due to each level of PR needing a factor of 10 (give or take):

The average is probably closer to 2.2, by my estimation:

0 is going to be the bottom 10% (sandbox, penalty zone, new sites)

1 is probably the bottom 25%

2 is right at the top of the bottom 45% of all web sites

3 is slightly above average, perhaps in the top 40% of all web sites

4 is going to be in the top 20% of all web sites

5 is in the top 10%

6 is in the top 3%

7 is in the top 1%

8 is in the top .01% of all web sites

9 is in the top .001% of all web sites

10 is in the top .0001% of all web sites

Or lets use the American FOOTBALL field as an analogy:

Suppose the 100 yard scale shows the entire Google PR scale:

0 = you're at the end zone, 100 yards away from the other end zone!

1 = advance to your own 20 yard line

2 = advance to your own 40 yard line

3 = advance just past the 50yd line, to the opposing team's 40 yard line.

4 = keep on going to the opposing team's 20 yard line

5 - you just advanced to the 10 yard line-- only 10 yds from the end zone

6 - you move another 7 yards to the 3 yd line.

7 - you gain about 1 yard

8 - you gain about 1.5 feet (1/2 yd)

9 - you are about 5 inches from the goal line

10 - Congratulations, you just scored a touchdown!!!
