How are sites with pr0 and keyword phrase twice beating me?

How can a site's link page with pr0, linking to my site with my keyword phrase beat me by 40 spots? I am pr4 and #2 with allinanchor:keyword phrase but still position number 55.

1. better on page optimization
2. perhaps their link stuff has not yet updated and they have a higher pagerank / link popularity
3. perhaps their inbound links have the keywords in most of them and your do not
4. they may have tons of links from sources of low pagerank. try doing a backlink check at alltheweb.

Their not optimized for my keyword phrase at all. They don't have any inbound links with my keyword phrase. My keyword phrase is very uncompetitive. All my inbound links have my keyword phrase, 30 to 40 links. I am #2 for allinanchor search for my keyword phrase. There are other sites that are linking to me where their linking page is beating me, the only time they have my keyword phrase is in the anchor text pointing to my site. What the hell?

perhaps many of your inbound links have been found but not yet evaluated by google or you are receiving some sort of ranking penalty.

sometimes the feedback loop takes a bit. my fatty weight loss blog has the same thing happening to it as your site right now. one of the blog posts from a different blog ranks at #2 even though my fatty weight loss site is in dmoz, the yahoo directory, about a dozen other directory, and has hundreds of other inbound links scattered across dozens of sites.

Any idea how I would see if I have a ranking penalty? The site is a few months old.

I moved up about 25 positions with the new update but they are still beating me!

if the site is only a few months old then likely many of the links have not been fully analyzed yet.

as long as you still have pagerank you do not usually have a ranking penalty. also some people believe that new links are not being fully evaluated by google. by giving newer links only partial credit google increases the lifecycle needed to make a successful spam site and significantly increases the price.

usually I just give it a bit of time and keep getting links and then the sites come up...

you have the words extended warrenty on that page way too many times in my opinion.

it is possible for keyword density to be too high, and that might be part of the problem there.
