Google and cached pages

Does anyone know how long it takes Google to remove old cached pages from its index? I made some changes to the url and title tags on a page and was hoping Google would spider this new page and forget about the old page and dump it form its cache. Now what is happening is that the new page has a pr of 0 and the old page which does not exist but is cached by Google has the pr of 3. I assume the new page has a pr of 0 because google sees it as a duplicated page (as the only thing that has chnages is the URL AND TITLE), how do I get the old page which is a dead page out of the google index so my new can get the pr of 3?

Thanks
pp

that was really confusing reading. they will dump the old page and pick up the new one soon after they do another deep index through your site.

the pagerank is based on the links associated with the page. you will need the links linking to the old location to link to the new one to get the pagerank the old page was getting.

Unless you have a high PR it'll take about 1 month or more for the page to get reindexed and show the new PR. You should do a 301 redirect from the old page to the new one.
