How to get your site ranked as "authority" site?
I've been wondering what do you have to do in order to get your site ranked as an "authority" site in G?
I've seen websites with only 6 static pages.. with all duplicate headers become "authority sites within a year.
How is that possible?

I'm not even too sure what you mean by "authority site". What is that exactly?

C.Whyte,
An authority site is one that really stands out on the search engine results for certain keywords. It places the site at the top of the search results, and gives the site extra links. Here's an example: type in "edmunds" in Google, and you'll see the page for edmunds.com with tons of extra links (exposure).

Ah, gottcha. Yeah, I've only seen a handful of major sites that have that for them... I would guess it's only for monster sites that have tons of traffic/subpages, but I honestly have no idea.
Thanks for the answer though.

Great sub sections from your site will give you that.

IMO, your site has to be or need to have lots of information for the visitors, quality, relevant and has the best backlinks coming from authority sites on relevant niche or probably from SEs itself... Age of site has also something to do with it...

This is your first step on becoming an authority site in Google:
'Dont think of any search engine exist' hahaha funny but true...

If the site has been around for sometime, trusted by lots of quality related sites, having lots of quality information and links as well, high rankings for its major terms, then a site can be considered an authority one.

I've got a competitor PR3 authority site on keyword Hawaiian bath and body products with less then 1200 links.
No you don't need a lot of backlinks, or high PR, but just a certain quantity of quality links.

You need to have quality backlinks. It is a waste of time and a waste of money to have allot of backlinks with no meaning of your nich.
Focus on a nich and do not make it a site for everyone so hard to search engine optimise it if you have no target market.
Get quality links from other authority site like .gov and .edu and good forums that is to do with your site.
Do it slowly do not rush every person starts somewhere.

Hi. I did? the sites I saw weren't what I would term Authority sites? ie not showing sitelinks?
maybe were seeing different results? on Google.com? all I'm seeing are standard sites with one dropdown page in the SERP, not sitelinks which were taking as the definition of Authority sites arent we?
