Google launches Knol
After several months of testing, Google has finally launched the knowledge-sharing site called Knolwhere people can share their opinions and views about a specific topic like in Wikipedia.

At present, the wikipedia is the major site sharing knowledge and we have to wait and watch how effective the new knol will be as against the wikipedia?

I looked into this yesterday. The big difference is at Knol there can be more than one article on the same subject. Knol is going to use some kind of voting system to determine which ones gets shown first. So there could be multiple experts trying to duke it out for top placement. There's no chance that system will get abused....

It'll be interesting to see which comes up first in results when searching for something.
Seems most things you search for these days, you find Wikipedia is usually in the top results.

It's very interesting. I'm hoping to see if they can come up with something different from wiki. Wiki is still the most useful info site for me now.

well Google is challenging wikipedia with their new service called "Knol" as a new article publishing place. The difference between these two is Knol doesn't allow anonymous authors. Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Land even called it a Wikipedia with Moderation

Like Wikipedia, Knol is NoFollow, so it won't help you in SERPs. But, I think it's a great way to get some natural vis itorsfor keywords that you couldn't hope to rank for without it. For instance, you might not be able to rank for KW of "online computer help", for example, but you might be able to write an awesome knol which will be towards the top, and direct visitors to you site.
