I dont understand

Ok, I have some keywords that I don't even try to target hard that return 800,000 results, and I'm #1 on it with not even trying hard.

Yet, Ive got other terms on the same site that are marketed for on pr6 pages that return about 100,000 results, and I dont even rank in the top 10 for those terms. Is this the story behind "money keywords"? Of all the sites above me, none have more than a pr 4.

Am I overoptomizing? Or is google ranking "old" sites before newer ones on these money keywords? What do you think?

Thanks,
Shawn

hi Shawn

most likely if you have your page copy optimized and a higher pagerank then likely you need to work on getting more inbound links with your primary keywords in the anchor text

also make sure your internal linking is using your keywords to reenforce the meaning of the pages

check the first 5 sites that are listed for the KW you're going for, how many backlinks are they showing? this will give you a good idea of what you need to do to rank competitively for your specific KW...assuming your on-site optimization is in order.

Hey SumOne,

Yes, I've done that many times, and I have many more backlinks from different websites, different IP addresses, everything. I've checked google and altavista for backlinks. The ONLY thing they have that I dont have is longevity, ie they've had these sites up for probably 4 yrs, and mine only 6-8 months.

My internal linking very strong, and all the links do have the correct anchor text, but does it need more, when the other sites have just a few backlinks?
