Google rankings
Hello all,
I need your views on when does google updates its search engine results. I am little confused in monitoring rankings for my sites targeted keywords. Everytime i check, i am noticing fluctuations that too on a same day from same location with same broadband.
Appreciate your replies.
Thanks

No one knows when is the exact time that Google updates. Fluctuations can be normal I guess.

one of the fluctuations you can really observe is that when your keyword is on the top 10 in G serp and then try to select the 100 result preference you'll see there is a shake on the positioning...

I also think that it updates daily. Every time I check my keyword rankings, there are some changes on their rankings.

It doesn't depend on broadband, I don't think so.
Here's a quote:

Occasionally, fluctuation in search results is the result of differences in our data centers. When you perform a Google search, your query is sent to a Google data center in order to retrieve search results. There are numerous data centers, and many factors (such as geographic location and search traffic) determine where a query is sent. Because not all of our data centers are updated simultaneously, it's possible to see slightly different search results depending on which data center handles your query.

search rankings change all the time because of new competition, but eventually it will stabilize. If the site is fairly new it will change a lot before it gets to its right position

Yes Google is starting to destabilize the webmasters, fluctuations are heavy on their search engine since July, traffic is unstable, and some search results make no sense.
I guess they are having some troubles with their new algo.

My personal experience would say that Google updates its engines constantly as the spiders crawl new and old websites.

How old is your site?
If your site is new, then you will see lot of such fluctuations in SERPs. In order to get a stable position in SERPs, you will have to get some relevant and quality backlinks: also, you will have to wait for sometime before your site gets a stable SERPs position.

Thanks but we are an established e-commerce. I guess Google made some algo adjustments or data centers are updating.
It could be some PR variations on backlinks too.

You can't really expect an immediate stability in the rankings of the search engines, specially w/ G0ogle. They are changing their algo from time to time and other users are creating new stuff everyday. This makes the SE to shake down and change in an instant.

Yes and No, if Google shake the ranking on one page, sure competitors may have updated their sites or put fresh contents, but if Google shake the site on many targeted keywords, like I said it may involve more things.
