Why does my buddy earn $1000 every month, and I only got $20
Hi guys!
I have a dilemma. I am NOT a good marketer, only coder. My friend is a good marketer, has 3 sites and earns more than $1000 per month with Adsense. I have about $25 in about 5 months.
Do you know of any articles on the secrets of Google? He says he learned some secrets of the trade. I was wondering if anyone knew of any...?
For reference, his sites are:
http://www.aimdude.com/
http://www.monkeypoo.com/
http://www.dollspot.com/
All having to do with AIM. I'd bet that has a lot to do with it.

Well if he gets lots of people, some people click on it naturally, so if you can get lots of uniques, then you can earn good money too. Whats your website?

Newsbyteens.com
I have it at the bottom on the frontpage, by the comments, and on the article pages.
One problem I face is to make it blend with the design. I used orange because it sticks out.

Put it at the top where the amazon banner is. You'll make the most money with your adsense ads.

I'm not too sure how it applies to this specific example, but a point to note is that different markets pay very differently.
For example, if you had a successful site dealing with the topic of "webhosting" then you would make quite a lot of money.
Point is, there are some commerical internet markets that pay a lot to advertise on the net. Then there are other markets that don;t care to advertise too much on the internet.
Of course, you do need the traffic in the first place.

Exactly, there are specific niche markets that pay more through Adsense. It's no use if you are getting 100 clicks but each gets you 0.05 while your buddy's clicks are generating 2.00 per click.

Its all about traffic and market.
I get thousands of impressions with adsense per day but only average a few $ for it. If my sites where in a different market segment I could probably make 5X or 10X more with the same traffic and CTR %.

I might make another site that is more geared toward "teen fun" I have a good idea, but I'm just lazy
I changed the ad layouts and stuff, so we'll see if that helps.
Correction: I have $29

I think I should completely get rid of them, teens don't buy stuff from Amazon
I can't put Adsense ads on the top, I don't want to do that.

Well maybe you can ask your users, be like "Please support the site by clicking on the ads, thanks!"

You are not allowed to do that with adsense.

Yah but you don't have to say adsense, you could maybe just say like please click on our sponsors or something....

I really don't think that google would appreciate it at all if you say anything like what you suggested: Please support our site by visiting our sponsors.
First of all, I don't think anybody would do it just for that reason, and second of all, if people do do it, you would never receive the cash because google would close your account.
