Cannot open the site www.Google.com

When I try to open www.google.com my browser says

"The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. ...
and bla-bla-bla"

Is it because of a virus? Anybody knows?

My guess is that it's spyware on your computer... does it happen to other pages? WHat OS are you running?

Do you know how to ping Google? When you ping www.google.com what IP address does it ping?

No, I haven't noticed it to happen with other pages. My operator system is Windows XP home edition.

I guess it doesn't show the IP address.

Which one should it be?

My guess is that if you have a router in the house, it needs to be reset to factory defaults.
This is a problem wich often occurs with routers, and i have experienced it myself

START > SEARCH > Find files and folders

Find your hosts.txt / host.txt and delete all of them or edit them taking out Google IP's.

Sorted!

I am not sure if adware has it but its a good bit of kit thats free for non business PC's... http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Doesn't Google block IP addresses on occasion?

I would look at the C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts file and see if there is anything there blocking google.
