Vectoring techniques.

Vectoring techniques. Do they actually exist? Are there ones that work better than others? I do some pretty good drawings on my notebooks but I just canít seem to get it right on the PC.

Scan your hand drawn picture, import the scan into a vector program and draw over it with a pen (or similar) tool. Then apply colors, gradients and other effects if needed.

Vectors are all about creating lines and shapes, using gradient fills with many layers. They're good because they are scaleable to any size and produce a sharp unpainterly graphic illustration. I personally like the control I have over vectors as versus raster graphics. Vectors also remain fluid, so you can manipulate them even after your work is finished. If you want a more painterly look use raster graphics. Start simple and learn the software, the rest will fall into place.
