Lightbulb hi friend.

majority of my friend having dell laptops. i have heard so many people saying that battery life of dell is quite longer than other ones.
so think of battery life point of view also.
you can also visit cnet.com where you can get the better idea of purchasing laptops.

platform point of view, as you are in NIFT, mac computer have good graphic support.

macs are fast and graphics are cool too,but sometimes connectibg to the internet in india is problem,
i would say go for dell ones or vaio, they are stylish for a NIFT student and cool too,
as you said price is not concerned much so i would say say go for dell or vaio and upgrade its graphic card and other things which can make it faster as you would need to work on graphic editors its good to add a good graphic card

Mac has got better graphics/displays. The operating system is quite stable and doesn’t crash often or at all. They have the lowest return/repair rate. Dell has got good battery runtime and gives powerful performance. There are some smaller deficiencies regarding workmanship, e.g., uneven gaps. The university student offers for apple is indeed attractive. Macs rarely give discounts so it’s good to hear that they giving offers. See for yourself http://www.apple.com/in/students/

I prefer the bulk and constant noise of a desktop.

Just kidding.
I have never used a laptop before.

IMO, If ever I'm in that situation, if you are used to using Mac computers, then go with Mac. Other than that, I'd go with HP.
