LOL. Hey kev... I really did design my first webpage in MS Word (Word 97?). You designed a page in Word and hit "Convert to Html"... and voila... the worlds ugliest webpage with the nastiest underlying html was yours. About the only place it rendered well was in MS Word, which unfortunately isnt a browser. After that I used Frontpage... still have a copy of FP... but bear in mind I was not designing for others, was a site I used for my own biz. FP makes the worlds 2nd ugliest html.
Dreamweaver is probably the best Wysiwyg program for the job, at least for those of us that dont speak in hex code in our sleep.
I'd personally suggest avoiding heavy reliance on Flash unless the SE spiders have gotten better at reading pictures instead of text. Doesnt matter how slick the site is if it isnt spidered well. There's bound to be a workaround for that, but it is a consideration to make sure that base is covered.
