A logo I've created ...
I created this logo, not sure why.... just struck me to make it..
I thought of it about a year ago and have typed it out in a few chats and forum posts, but never got around to making it into a graphic till now.
If anyone has seen one just like it, please let me know where...
I've reduced it to an avatar size ..
.. thoughts/suggestions/comments welcome. .. :-)

Hi seonewbee,
If you have seen a logo just like mine, could you provide a link to it please, if it's not too much trouble. Thanx

Not being an ass but not wanting to be part of the "Cool looks good crowd" but, it's not a logo per se. I mean if I took :O
and made that as two dots and a stroke circle, it would be just a keyboard emoticon. The one Atom posted I've seen it a lot when people send me emails.

A logo is a symbol designed for easy and definite recoginition, and that's what this is.
I have designed this logo for easy and definite recognition, as to what I want it to symbolize and be recognized for, I haven't decided.
I was actually hoping to maybe get some suggestions in that area.

heh nice dictionary look up, I'm talking about the fact its just a keyboard emoticon, so therefore not originally thought up. Thats why I suggested using your own ideas to make it original in some way. Who would use it seeing as its ubiquitous.

I see ..
But I'm having a bit of a problem with your conception of "not originally thought up".
I realize that my idea was spawned from my viewing of different keyboard characters, but the result is unique in that, not only is it not "a keyboard character", but it has not been created and adopted as a logo anywhere on the net that I can find. My intention here is to do that, and I've completed the first step in the process by desigining this symbol. Do you see a problem with this? Am I going to be sued by a keyboard company or someone if I sell this logo to some company that will be represented by this symbol, do you think?

maybe http://www.despairdotcom/
At a press conference, Despair's COO, Dr. E.L.Kersten, announced his intentions to sue "anyone and everyone who uses the so-called 'frowny' emoticon, or our trademarked logo, in their written email correspondence. Ever."
They sound like a bunch of wankers tbh.

Thanks for the link ...
In your opinion, do you think the chances are good that they will see my design as a rip of theirs, and if so, do you think their chances are good that they would win their dispute in a court of law?

If someone registered V ... could they sue the person that registered W, and win, do you think?
I'm totally clueless... and if it's probable that this idea of mine is a waste of time, then I won't pursue it any further.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, Atom.
:-( is completely different than :-)-:
Goes along with your V and W thing. I don't think they could sue.
You could always play dumb. "I didn't know that was a frown emoticon, it was just a neat-looking desgin. What's an emoticon?"

It's a series of keyed characters used to indicate an emotion.
No, that's what I figured too, but if I thought that they would win if it went to court, then I wouldn't bother with it.
<edit>Oh... sorry, I thought you were serious.. LOL .. I just re-read your post
Yeah... I could just play dumb... and I wouldn't even have to hardly try at all...

I just reviewed the whole despair.com frowny saga... and it seems they've apologized about their attempted lawsuits against the people that were using this frown emoticon in their email correspondence, that despair.com had registered.... despair.com has made them available for people to use at a small price... like 5 bucks... and I even saw where they were offering one version free (they have 3 versions registered).
Now my next step is applying for registry patent, I guess ... so I can be a wanker just like them ...
At least mine has "some" originality, though... theirs has zilch.
