Photoshop: Photo Correction Challenge

Let's see how good your skills are in photoshop. A friend of mine was at a National TUG of war championship and took this photo. Unfortunatly the sun created a little problem. Let's see who can make this photo look better.

I am going to make an attempt to try to fix this for her but I figured a challenge was in order to see what others can do with it.
