there is no reason to duplacate the bg layer... just unlock it by double clicking it in the layers pallete.

other than that, you are correct... but so many people have given him over dramatic ways to go about it that I think he got confused in the process... it's all good though, as he seems to be past that point.

If you'll notice, Juggo, he had many questions some of which were quite confusing, and ... he didn't "get" confused, he was already confused, he simply may have gotten more confused, which if that's the case, is unfortunate, but quite normal in this. My attempts to answer them may have been over dramatic, but at least I made attempts, and there was a reason for the "over drama". I wanted him to learn about arranging layers, among the other things that he has hopefully learned or is learning. Knowing how to arrange layers is something that is more basic and important than knowing how to mask, IMO.

It's primary.

I have a nervous condition similar to parkinsons but not that. They dont even have a name for it lol. Anyways when I got to try draw free hand around something with mouse it is very hard next to impossible sometimes. Is there another type of mouse that might be more like a pen that I could use to draw with? Even that is hard enough. If I could find somthing differant like a pen type mouse for graphics ect I think would be better off. Any suggestions are appreciated. I have got to be able to use adobe it is a must.

P.s Atom is right and I thank each one of you for your help. Yes I was and am still confused on many things about this program yet. But I will learn it......... Even if it makes me 90 lol.

If you learn proper selecting and feathering techniques etc... there is virtually no drawing or erasing involved.

I think you could try a tablet which I believe you use a pen of some type, but I think that may involve drawing. Not sure.. never saw or tried one.

I would suggest trying all 3 methods, extracting (pipeline) masking (Jazzee/Juggo) and select/copy/paste/arrange (mine)... whatever way seems best and is easiest for you.

re JuggoPop Dont stop posting I appreciate everyones input. Reason is becuase if one way to do doesnt work then I can always try to find the one that best suits me. So every input is greatly appreciated more than you know. And trust me a know experianced users when I see them and will probably use there ideas most often as they are usually eaiser. Yalll guys have been really great on this thread and I dont doubt I will be able to help out someone else in the future. (You can never be too good with this stuff).

P.s zoom in... slow down and cut in around his fingers better.

also... something that is bugging me is the other hand... who holds stuff with their thumb in front of the object? I think you should just have his thumb go behind the blue one.

Note from Doc. Wouldnt that look dorky though the hand would look like it was balancing the flop?

Atom, try to write a sentence without the constant obsession with periods, it makes it hard to read and is annoying.

This is much better than tutorials for me I cant stand trying to go by a book thats why I am taking a long brake from college. By the way while I am thinking about it how do you make tect look like its going sideways as in the stronger america(?) And also how do you get it to curve on items say around the edge of the shoe?

Yep, I don't like tuts either, lol.

But you can learn some stuff quickly by reading some of them. I don't read them so I learn everything pretty much on my own and very slowly. lol

One way to slant the text is with edit/transform/skew , then grab hold of a corner of the bounding box and move the mouse a bit, then hit enter.

One way to get it to wrap is by playing around with edit/transform/distort and/or perspective, but you must right click the text layer in the layer palette (this is one of a few ways to reach the rasterize command) and click "rasterize layer" first, before you can distort or change the perspective.

Speaking of wraping ..

That left hand of his can probably be made to look more natural by kinking the thumb a bit, and copying a section of the fingers on his right hand and positioning them just right, on his left hand (cuff the fingers up over the front of the flip a bit, maybe one finger along the side or something). You'll have to experiment. Trick is to just keep playing around with those tools scale/rotate/distort/perspective etc.. and also might need to do a bit of sculpting with the eraser or building/blending with the clone stamp tool, drawing with brushes etc.. stuff like that. Lighting ,coloring, tinting, on and on ... it can all help but you have to be familiar with all these things and what their capabilities are.

Tuts, written or verbal, are nice but nothing can take the place of relentless and persistent playing around with those tools, tolerances and settings.

Be adventurous and keep playing around with all the tools. It'll take a while and ain't gonna happen over night but, once things become second nature you'll be flyin'.
