Saving Images in Photoshop Problem
Hi,
Quick question. When I save an image in photoshop for the web such as a red square with the color #FF0000, and then reopen it, the image is no longer #FF0000, but slightly darker. I save as a .jpg at %100 percent quality and it still does this.
This isn't a HUGE deal or anything, but it often gets quite annoying trying to color match something on a website i'm building when I can't save my images to match exactly. I have to make them lighter then I want them, then save, and see if it matches, which it usually doesn't, so I repeat over and over till I get it right.
I am almost positive that I didn't have this problem until a few months ago. Does anybody have a suggestion that I can try, maybe I messed with my settings somewhere....IDN, but if anybody has an idea it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The type of graphic you have described is best saved as a .gif or .png.

That might be a way to get around the problem, saving as a bmp, gif or png. But your root problem just may lie elsewhere. You may be running low on disk space. You might want to check 'My Computer' then go to your hard drive, to see if you're close to using half disk storage. Photoshop requires a lot of disk space and RAM to function properly. Possibly why you're now experiencing this problem for the first time.
Check it out, because you may want to start transferring some of your artwork to disk or an external hard drive or upgrading. I've had this problem with my music programs before. So every once in a while, I clear my computer of all audio projects. Placing them on a cd-rw or cd-r. Opening up space so my music programs will function properly.
You also may want to try disk clean-up, and disk defragmenter too. They're found in accessories/system tools. Defragmenting helps to organize loose files on the hard drive and should be done on a monthly basis. Or at least quarterly. It helps your programs to run smoother.
Good luck.

This is most likely a color profile issue. Check to see what your monitor color profile is versus the managed color profile in photoshop (if you're managing any color profile on the image) versus any ICC profile when saving for web.

I wonder if using Calibrize would adjust for that.

thanks all, i'm about to check it out, but I believe that the last reply is probably the solution, because now that I think about it, I get an ICC profile warning every once in a while but Im pretty ignorant on the subject so I haven't messed with it yet
but again, i really appreciate the input from everybody
