Yeah, practice will make you better. Design can be a timely process, and its iterative.

I don't have any idea with web design, so I find your design good since it was your first design. I also want to learn web designing. And hopefully I will also succeed. BTW, I'll will also post my first design here at v7n in the near future. And I agree with clorets01 mentionm above. "Practice makes perfect"

Pretty good for your first design, the layout's not bad.
You could match your colour scheme more though. Looks slightly strange with the green buttons next to the purple and black background.

Good job, inspires confidence to other beginners as well. The interesting part is that you are open for feedback on your first design definitely a good sign of a great designer.

This is a good first attempt atleast you rememberd to have a naviagation and content section. some attempts i have seen com, pletley forget the fact a website needs a nviagation.
You should work on your logo "Site Name" the effects on the text make it stand out to much and the colour scheme your using is quite bright and scary, if your looking for colour schemes then try http://kuler.adobe.com/ that will help you come up with some nice colour schemes. as said before some web safe fonts would be good aswell and maybe add in some content so we can see what it will look like when its coded.

Not bad for your first site....I remember the first site I did was back in 1996 with a bunch of animated gifs throughout the page. It was okay at that time since their wasn't a bunch of businesses online but with the advent of web 2.0 the landscape is changing into a more professional/clean design one site at a time...but we still have a long ways to go. So all I'm trying to say is keep it up. You'll only get better with time and practice.

It's a OK design.
I have seen alot worse and we do all need to start somewhere. Keep at it and just open photoshop and play about.

the graphics in the background is kinda uhm noisy to me. try removing the words written on it and set some contrasting colors. the interface is good for a first timer. congratulations!
