Not so good wallpaper

But i dunno how to make a backdrop unless i add more space to the picture, and make a border... in which case the picture you see isn't what you would want on your desktop because that's not how its ment to be there, just like that for easier viewing purposes..

Maybe I'm not understanding what you are saying, but my point is yes i agree its a little harder with this color scheme surrounding it, but how could i make it easier to see the pic without changing it?

just add the border to show us, then remove it.
Or say something like "please view against a dark backdrop"

I've always been aware of this but never realsied just how much of an affect it has!
