Background Extraction using Photoshop.
The difficulty of the extraction process depends on the resolution and contrast of the image.

Extracting the background for your image shouldn't be difficult because of the high contrast.

The easiest and cleanest way (in my opinion) is to use the Magnetic Lasso Tool.

I started off using Paint Shop Pro in ~1990... it's easy to learn and I loved it for its intuitiveness...

As I progressed to more complex graphic projects, PSP no longer offered the level of manipulation I needed...

Although I don't use PSP anymore, it has a warm place in my heart as it was part of my learning experience...

I transitioned to Macromedia Products (Fireworks) which is good but not much more than PSP.

As far as 2D graphic editing / creation goes, PhotoShop is my favorite.
For 3D graphics and animation, the winners are AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max and Maya.

Hey again, yeah I pop up now and then. Thought I would have a crack. Mainly I use the path pen and dot my way around at a very high magnification, you get awsome results, this one aint the best cut, as time was short. Trucks need to be driven, goods to be delivered. l8rs.

Keep cool guys and gals.
