Optimization for web

Hello everybody,

I would like to ask you for help.

I have just finished design for one restaurant, but the final image size is 150 kb in GIF format (and I still would like to add some animated banners). This size is probably caused by higher number of photos I have used in for this website.

Can you advise me the best way how to optimized graphics/photos for web and decrease the total size.

I have attached the image as jpg file. Image has 60 kb in this format, but is not always perfectly clear.

from what it's sounding like your trying to save this as one image and then use an image map for links? bad practice if this is the case.

if you cut this up and sacrifice some font faces for a arial/helvetica font (gillsans bold looks pretty similiar to your header links) you could easily get this down to a 40k page... easily.

I see a repeating pattern that can use the same tiled image for the top nav background and the bottom headers look like they're supposed to be text so you can keep your bottom main subject lines as gif's and use css to make the borders and backs... the images at a quality of 30 shouldn't take up any room at all.

The image is 61KB because it's big, and has a lot of black and other stuff you'll be able to do without using images on your site. All you'll need images for is the header, the pizza's, and the colored text, so the size will go down lower.
