Question Odd Photoshop question for ya...

Earlier, I had the need to download some clip art. Saved what I needed, then went to open it in Photoshop CS. The file saved as a JPEG, so I figured it would open right up.

Photoshop gave me this message and wouldn't open the file...

Quote:
"Could not complete your request because reading differential JPEG files is not implemented."
Any ideas as to what this means and how I can keep it from happening in the future?

It's just curiousity at this point, since I was able to find a different image that would work in PS.

Thanks

I think that it's because how it is saved the .JPEG part, when you're saving next time, save as .jpg, or save the file then rename it to .jpg

the file name was scissors.jpg. I'm not sure if it was the way it saved or what... I right clicked on the image, selected save as and saved it to an image folder. Then photoshop wouldn't open it.

I've opened many jpg and gif files in photoshop and never got that message before. jazzee was even stumped on it.

Maybe try switching the file name to a dif extension? maybe it's really a .gif or something else?

I got that message once and never did figure out what it meant. You may want to see if it will open in Illustrator, then maybe it can be converted, or exported to PS? I think it has something to do with the way JPEG's are encoded in PS, not sure though.

<edit> sorry, I meant ImageReady, not AI
