Well, we people are a little bit like those little mammals, as a group they tend to follow the one that is before them, they don't care where they are lead to even if they walk into their own death.
We people are very intelligent and logical on an individual basis, but as a group we are dump sheep who don't use their brains at all. "We" as a group believe that our leaders 'know what's best for us' and 'we' as a group follow them just as willing into our deaths as those little mammals.
'We' are just plain stupid Atom.

Well, I hear what you're saying and somewhat agree, but as for the lemmings ...
Lemming suicide is fiction. Contrary to popular belief, lemmings do not periodically hurl themselves off of cliffs and into the sea. Cyclical explosions in population do occasionally induce lemmings to attempt to migrate to areas of lesser population density. When such a migration occurs, some lemmings die by falling over cliffs or drowning in lakes or rivers. These deaths are not deliberate "suicide" attempts, however, but accidental deaths resulting from the lemmings' venturing into unfamiliar territories and being crowded and pushed over dangerous ledges. In fact, when the competition for food, space, or mates becomes too intense, lemmings are much more likely to kill each other than to kill themselves.

Yep, I have seen that before too. I used the example because of the well-known myth about them running off clifs and into rivers and stuff and to make that comparison. Actually we humans are more stupid than those mammals because we really follow our leaders into our death even when we (on individual basis) know that this is the case.

During the filming of the 1958 Disney nature documentary White Wilderness, the film crew induced lemmings into jumping off a cliff and into the sea in order to document their supposedly suicidal behavior.
LOL
I think , Ferre, that the story of the Pied Piper would be a better analogy. lol
