Interesting

I came across this image the other day (I put their site down the button of the image)

The colour on the back really interested me and I was wondering how one goes about creating something like that?

Any idea? *cough* Atom maybe? *cough*

Gee, I don't know, Micko. I can do some fooling around and maybe find out.
Seems I've seen something similar in one of my programs.
You don't suppose it was made with a brush do you?
There are lots of custom brushes available. I just have the standard ones I think. I don't use them much.

Thats great, thats basically what I wanted to know, a custom brush so I should go on the hunt for some. A mask is also cool, I want to learn how to do those, thats basically all I wanted to know, I thought it was a brush of some sort, but i didn't know how to get the gradient in the background, but Tips thinks a mask.

Now I can do some fooling around and try and do something like that

Cheers Atom & Tips

Sorry, I have another question about this image, masks where mentioned, I guess thats the same as a gradient overlay type tool?

If I have a picture of a bunch of flowers and I want one flower to have a gradient on it is this how I would do it or is there a better way to do it? Because I noticed when I added the gradient and changed the alpha value it doesn't keep so much of the flower look, I want to do it another way...Is there a better way to do it :p

Cheers

They could have also done it in Illustrator. I know I do a similar effect in it. This example is not as smooth and as colorful but get's the point accross.

I've been looking through a lot of brushes but haven't found the exact one. There's tons of free ones on the net.
Like I say, I rarely use them. In fact, I can't recall ever having used one. lol
I'm not even sure it was a brush that was used. I'll keep looking around.

You could always create your own brush.

Use this for starters.

1) Save and Open the file in photoshop.
2) Select All (Ctrl + A)
3) Select EDIT > Define Brush.
4) Give it a unique name.

You could add a gradient filter to give it the rainbow effect and use various brush sizes. You may have to either create various brushes or get creative with rotating the layer to use it in different angles.

Here is a quick 20 second sample.

Ah well, its still good to look at. Because Photoshop is still very new to me, and I'm learning what can be done with it its good to see how people use it, and what they can do with it.
