How to capture streaming swf ?

Hi all,

I have come across a few sites which have swf content that I would like to download as a single swf or a flv file or any other kind of media.

I realize its easy to download if its a single swf but what do I do when there is a "framework" swf which is regularly sent other swf and mp3 files to display ??

This seems to be swf within swf that is streaming ??

I have tried various stream ripping softwares (Replay AV8, media catcher) but it doesn't seem to work, it only gets one of the swf which is only about 200k.

Thanks,

Jason

Seams to me that they are using the 1st .swf to protect the source of the other .swf from being snatched up?

Mostly I'm sure it's for loading times so the website loads real quick then opens the larger swfs.

Of course if you ripped open the 1st swf I'm sure it would show the action to open the others so then you'd see the files that it's opening?

Just a guess

For the mainstream video sites I use keepvid, however I'm guessing for the other less renowned websites you may need to use a plugin.

Try this firefox plugin

The other old school method that I used to use 2-3 years ago was to clean out my internet explorer cache and then load up the video website clean on a new session, and then look for the video in my temporary internet files, IE keeps the cache in a viewable folder, and with a cleared out cache it makes the job of identifying the videos much easier.

You need to use opera browser to view the flash files and it will store the swf files in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\cache4 folder. Later rename the files with .flv extension and use flv player to view the files.
